Anabell Castro Thompson is Senior Vice President of Health Equity at Equality Health. Working closely with key stakeholders in the community, Ms. Castro Thompson has pioneered an innovative, replicable and sustainable Cultural Care Model that establishes Equality Health as a trusted resource among patients and providers alike.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Ms. Castro Thompson’s leadership exemplifies sustained commitment towards improving healthcare for Latino and underserved communities. Determined to bridge health care disparities, she is responsible for building and managing innovative programs and strategic initiatives which improve engagement, outcomes and decrease costs.
A 20-year healthcare veteran and Latino advocate, she is a past President of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) and serves on multiple national boards including the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE), ecoAmerica- Health Leadership Circle and the LatinaStrong Foundation.
Ms. Castro Thompson is the recipient of numerous awards including the National Association of Distinguished Professionals- Woman of Distinction Award, the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA)- Hispanic Health Leadership Award, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN)- Janie Menchaca Leadership Award, the NAHN Phoenix Chapter- Community Impact Award, the Valle Del Sol-Excellence in Health and Science Award, and the Azteca America- Hispanic Heritage Award. She has been honored as a distinguished alumnus by both her alma maters—the University of Arizona and Arizona State University.
