Virginia “Chris” Muckler, DNP, CRNA, CHSE-A is an Associate Clinical Professor and the Program Director of the Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Program. Dr. Muckler is a veteran of the United States Air Force, is a National League for Nursing Simulation Leader, and serves as the Co-Chair of the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) Simulation Subcommittee and the Continued Professional Certification Airway Panel. Dr. Muckler’s work in simulation is far-reaching with local to international impact through her work in Ghana and Norway. A dedicated simulationist, an article showcasing her work with transgender simulation was selected as one of the 2019 most influential simulation articles of the year by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). Dr. Muckler has held state and national elected positions and serves on boards and committees for state, national, and international organizations. Dr. Muckler serves as a reviewer for multiple journals, is an invited author and reviewer for simulation publications, and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Dr. Muckler received the 2019 American Association of Nurse Anesthetists’ Didactic Instructor of the Year Award, the 2018 Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Faculty of the Year Award, the 2016-2017 Auburn University Montgomery School of Nursing's Distinguished Alumni, and the 2016 Top 50 at 50 Auburn University Alumni.
Dr. Muckler completed a BSN at Auburn University Montgomery and a MSN at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro then completed a Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Duke University.
