Jean Marie Lucas is the Chief Nursing Officer at the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System - Venice Hospital.
An accomplished and visionary leader spanning over 28 years, Dr. Lucas has impacted innovation and change in nursing and health care in academic and non-academic health care settings. Her influence has expanded beyond her role as a nurse executive to include serving as adjunct faculty at the University of South Florida and Florida State University as well as serving as a longstanding member on the board for the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives.
Dr. Lucas is an action oriented leader who anticipates opportunities and influences change by creating a person-centered and system-wide culture of professionalism and interprofessional collaboration. She has established innovative programs and standards that advance nursing education, research, clinical practice, and health care delivery to the highest level and with measurable outcomes. The diversity of her work includes the creation of sustainable programs in behavioral health, trauma, integrative therapies, safe work environment, telehealth and transition of care. Dr. Lucas has worked collaboratively with academic partners to create non-traditional nursing education and clinical practice programs, including the development of nursing research fellowship program and a collaborative research partnership that brings nationally funded research grants to the community acute care setting.
Dr. Lucas earned her BSN from the Pennsylvania State University, her MSN, MBA and Post Graduate Acute/Critical Care APRN degrees from the Johns Hopkins University and her PhD from the University of South Florida.
