Nick Hardiker is a Registered Nurse with a background in general Nursing with Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degrees in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK. Nick has over 25 years’ experience of theoretical and applied research in Nursing and Health Informatics, with a particular focus on Health Records and Terminologies. He holds an adjunct position of Professor at the University of Colorado, Denver, USA and has previously held informatics leadership roles at the UK Royal College of Nursing and the International Council of Nurses. Nick has published widely and is asked regularly to speak at conferences and seminars. He was for 10 years Editor-in-Chief of Informatics for Health and Social Care. He is currently the UK representative to the International Medical Informatics Association Nursing Informatics Working Group, a member of national and international standards bodies and think tanks, and he regularly provide advice to organisations such as the UK Department of Health and Social Care on informatics issues. Nick is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics and was the recipient of the 2017 Virginia K. Saba Informatics Award.
