Rhonda L. Goodman


Associate Professor

Florida Atlantic University

Rhonda Lynn Goodman is an Associate Professor at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Designated as a Master Teacher, Dr. Goodman has received many awards as an educator, such as Distinguished Teacher of the Year, Nurse Educator of the Year, Faculty Advisor of the Year, and the Presidential Leadership Awards for Community Engagement in Teaching and Service. In her study abroad and service learning programs, Dr. Goodman has taken hundreds of nursing students, both undergraduate and graduate, to Guatemala and Ecuador, providing indigenous populations with culturally-appropriate primary care, women’s cervical cancer screenings, school wellness screenings. foot care clinics, and follow up visits, with over 13,000 documented patient visits. She created partnerships with 3 Non-Governmental Organizations, 22 communities, and a university. Her policy manual for culturally-appropriate care in rural Guatemala is utilized by nurse practitioner students and their faculty. She completed 7 research projects and published 5 manuscripts in global nursing. Dr. Goodman’s philanthropic contributions include a middle school with a computer lab, two playgrounds, two school kitchens, a kitchen at a home for elders, and over 300 woodstoves installed. Other service projects were completed in Cambodia and Haiti. She has established several nursing scholarships, endowed and expendable.

Dr. Goodman completed her BSN at Houston Baptist University, an MA in Theology at Knox Theological Seminary, and her MSN and PhD in nursing from Florida Atlantic University.
